ECO: Day in the EarthLab Garden
EarthLab Climate Action Park is a nature space used daily by elementary, middle, and high school students to learn about the environment and have a safe, inspiring place to complete STEM educational experiences. EarthLab hosts monthly activities for the community to learn about the environment and celebrate student achievements.
Come to the EarthLab Climate Action Park to learn about native and water wise plants and how to care and maintain them. Volunteers will work with knowledgeable docents in one of the garden areas to prune and care for the various plants and trees, maintain paths for student and community activities; prepare areas for planting, remove invasive plant species, and participate in specific site projects.
Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

Attire: Closed-toe shoes are required. Wear work pants and a shirt you don't mind getting dirty. Wearing a hat and sunglasses is recommended. This opportunity takes place outdoors with plenty of shade.

Bring: Water bottle and gardening gloves. Tools are provided.

Physical Requirements: Standing, bending, kneeling, lifting (can accommodate weight limitations), walking on some inclines and on uneven surfaces for the duration of the event. Volunteers with hearing impairments can work closesly with a knowledgeable docent for demonstration of activities. The project space is only partially accessible via wheelchair.

The mission of Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek is to work at the intersection of social, environmental, and climate justice, grounded in strong university and community partnerships, to deliver climate education, green infrastructure, and climate safe neighborhoods for the Chollas Creek Watershed communities.
