SORT: Sort & Organize Donations for Refugees

Christ Ministry Center provides long-term support and housing in their 6 apartment buildings for refugees from 27 countries including Haiti, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. They provide clothing and household items to their clients through generous donations from members of the community. Their clothing and household donation space needs volunteers to organize and sort the items so they can be more easily received from donors and matched with the clients.

Volunteers tasks include: sorting donated clothing, determining if clothing is appropriate for use (no holes, tears, or stains), discarding donated items that cannot be used so they can be hauled away, and hanging or folding clothes to put on racks or shelves according to gender and age (adult vs. children). Volunteers may also help with cleaning the donation room in preparation of storing new donations.
