ECO: Tuesday Farming and Harvesting

Botanical Community Development Initiatives runs Community Roots Farm, a 1-acre neighborhood farm growing vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers sustainably and ethically, emphasizing healthy communities and ecosystems. The farm serves as a learning-site for those interested in learning how to grow food sustainably, productively, and profitably in a small farm setting.

During Tuesday's hours with Desiree, volunteers will help harvest and wash vegetables which are delivered to Growing Minds Preschools, used in FarmShare boxes, and provided to free food distributions at Oceanside Community Centers. Volunteers may also be asked to participate in projects like stringing up peppers and flowers to dry for future seed-saving, prepping field beds for production, weeding and miscellaneous farm tasks.
