HELP OUT: Youth Track Meet

Help provide an opportunity for young athletes to compete in the sport of track and field! Each track season, the local track and field clubs take a turn hosting a meet to give their youth ample opportunities to participate in sports. It will be God's Speed Youth Track and Field Club's turn on April 19 and they need volunteers to ensure the 300-400 youth ages 5-18 can compete in each of their running and field events. 

Volunteers will help by checking in youth for running events, setting up the field events, taking measurements at the long jump, mini javelin, and shot put, helping organize children before their races, serving food at the concession stand, and breaking down events. No track and field experience is necessary. 

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

• Attire: Closed-toe shoes are required. Wear athletic attire that you're comfortable moving and walking in such as sneakers, a t-shirt, and sweats or shorts. Volunteers should wear sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat.

• Bring: Water bottle and snacks/lunch

• Physical Requirements: Walking, standing, bending, and squatting. This project can make accomodations for individuals with physical limitations. Please contact the Opporunity Coordinator to make arrangements before the project takes place. A chair can be provided for rest breaks from standing. The space where this project takes place is wheelchair accessible. 

• Weather: This event will take place rain or shine.

About God's Speed Youth Track and Field Club

God's Speed Youth Track and Field Club offers boys and girls ages 5-18 an opportunity to participate in track and field competitions. This track and field club was established to provide an opportunity for youth from all socio-economic backgrounds to be able to participate in positive athletic activities that encourage academic achievement, enhance and develop youth social skills, self-esteem, civic character, and acknowledge that God is the source of their viability.
