ENGAGE: Help at Safe Sleep Site for a Day

Work alongside Dreams for Change staff to provide the daily needs of participants and perform necessary tasks at the City of San Diego's safe sleep site. Your time will not only help staff, but also give participants another person to engage with.
Volunteers will be assigned different tasks throughout the day. This can include participant engagement, site improvements, admin work, restocking, and organizing. Duties will be assigned on the day and will change throughout the shift. You will be working with a homeless population that is living in tents. You must feel comfortable engaging and empathizing with their situation.
Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

Attire: Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for walking a parking lot. This opportunity takes place outdoors with little or no shade. Volunteers should wear sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat.

Bring: We all suggest bringing a water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, and lunch.

Physical Requirements: Able to lift over 20 lbs, prolonged standing, and walking. Unfortunately this opportunity is not able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations and the space where this project takes place is not wheelchair accessible.

Weather: This opportunity is not canceled in the event of inclement weather. This program runs every day of the year.

Note: Clearing a Megan's Law California Sex Offender search before your first shift is required to participate in this opportunity.
