Web Development and Design Volunteer

Are you passionate about web design and development? Do you want to use your skills to make a positive impact in the community? Barrio Logan College Institute (BLCI) is seeking a dedicated and talented volunteer to help enhance and maintain their website.

Responsibilities of the Web Development and Design Volunteer include: Assisting with website updates and maintenance, implementing design improvements and ensuring website functionality, optimizing the website for performance and user experience, ensuring the website is mobile-friendly and accessible, troubleshooting and resolving any technical issues, collaborating with BLCI's team to create and upload new content, monitoring website analytics, and suggesting improvements.

Whether you are interested in education, mentoring, or administrative tasks, you will gain hands-on experience that can benefit your personal and professional growth. It's also a great addition to your resume, showcasing your commitment to community service.


Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

  • Time Commitment: At least one semester (6 months). Long term volunteers are preferred. BLCI can work with a hybrid schedule as needed.

  • Onboarding Process: Application, interview, and background check. This process can take up to two weeks.

  • Required Skills/Experience: You must have intermediate computer knowledge. Knowledge of WordPress is preferred or prior experience with web design and search engine optimization.

  • Desired Skills/Experience: Background with computer knowledge.

  • Physical Requirements: This project is able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations and the space where this project takes place is wheelchair accessible.

  • Note: You will be assisting BLCI's volunteer associate with making changes to the website based on the tasks given.

The mission of Barrio Logan College Institute is to break the cycle of poverty by preparing underserved students to be the first in their families to go to college through after school programs that begin in third grade.
