FOOD: Food Bank for Military Families

Military Outreach Ministry hosts a free food distribution at their church every Friday, providing support to hundreds of low income military and civilian families and helping reduce food insecurity.

Volunteers are needed to help the distribution run smoothly. Volunteers assist with set up, check in, passing out goods, and breakdown. All volunteers are also welcome to take food if desired.

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

• Attire: Comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes

• Bring: Water bottle, hat and sunscreen recommended

• Physical Requirements: Bending, able to lift up to 20lbs. This project is able to make accommodations for volunteers with physical limitations. Unfortunately the project space is not wheelchair accessible. 

• Weather: This event takes place rain or shine.

• Religious Observation: This is a religiously affiliated event. Volunteers can opt out of participating if prayer takes place. 

• Note: This opportunity is coordinated by Vets' Community Connections on behalf of Military Outreach Ministries.

About Military Outreach Ministries

The primary focus of Military Outreach Ministries is to reach the unchurched military and those in the church either in-person or virtually. Many military families have relocated to San Diego or Las Vegas and don’t have a church home yet, so they wanted to connect. Besides ministering to military families, they provide ministry support to the community such as through worship services, food bank ministry, and youth ministry.
